My Last New Cadillac

44 Year Habit Broken
When I read this CBS News story about 84 year old Joseph Macko continuing his 53 year habit of buying or leasing a new Cadillac every year since 1955, I felt like a real lightweight.
I tell the complete story in Success Made Easy, but the short version is that I made a deal with Marvin K. Brown in 1964 that if he would not reposess my 1962 Cadillac, and deliver me a new 1965, that I would get a new Cadillac every two years for the rest of my life.
Well I have lived up to that promise until now. This year I wrote a check for my new STS “black beauty” and plan to keep it from now on. We’ll see!

I’ll have to order that book. From “repossession” to “new car”. That must be quite a story. In any case you sure picked out a nice one to ride into the sunset in.

If Cadillac makes a wagon as I have requested of them, then that will be my next car. Drive yours in good health. All my life I have wanted a Caddy, but need a station wagon so my bike fits in there when I take it in for tuneups. SUVs are too large. You should live long enough to have to trade that one up. We all get the new car itch, however you been there and done that for forty five years. Now you want the ” I already have a good car” mindset. Nothing wrong with that. They should be built to last anyway. Here is hoping you get your wish and that the service department doesn’t see you too often for costly repairs.
