Hello from South Africa. How are you all going to deal with whomever comes in as US President 2008? What can you as a people do? Democracy takes too long to work these days ... the populacfe doesn't seem to have a voice really, they just go with the flow it seems, like we are having to do here in SA. Lots of Huffery and Puffery, little action, minimal service delivery, minimal 'transparancy', maximum opportunistic avarice and nothing the man in the street can do - except carry on adapting, regressing, wishing for and trying hard to just do things. Its like trying to hold onto or capture a handful of air.

Sometimes it reminds me of a Garfield joke I once read (thanks Jim Davis) where Garfield says on the front of a greetings card "Oh well, its the same today as it was yesterday..." Then when you open the card, on the inside it say "Breathe...Breathe...Breathe."

Am usually a happy and positive person, but this political whirlwind I am living through along with everyone else is taking its toll, so sorry for the depressing post.

Now... give me the Festive Season to think about anytime! The joy, the excitement, the present picking, the kids faces, the smells, the holiday fall out, the meaning and spirit of the season ... there's a present for me for sure.

OMG! How ridiculous has all of this become? "Joe the Plumber" getting 21 mentions at the debates and thrust into the national spotlight. Have you seen this dude? What a joke!
Here we are in the most serious financial moments of our existence and we are embroiled in a debate over the comments (and lies) made by this guy. Give me a break; and an Obama too. This thing cannot end too soon.

Now you guys have me scared. "Overthrow the government"? I read somewhere that Palin had already been a part of a movement for Alaska to be removed as a part of the United States. She no doubt has the balls, too bad she doesn't have the brains to go with them. Balls without brains is a catastrophe waiting to happen.
Maybe Joe the Plumber is our man; after all, he won the debate last. I am completely disgusted with the whole thing.

BTW... the 2nd Amendment was intended to keep Government in check... so the people would have the power to over throw it... if necessary... and we might be coming to that!

no argument about Bush... although we haven't been attacked since 911... who would have bet on that? As for Obama... I'm sorry, I don't want Socialized America... or as he says... redistribution of wealth. Palin is the only one that has enough "balls" to lead this country in the direction our founding fathers intended it to go. Obama AND McCain are Socialist! IMHO

The question for you (mauijeff) is, "What are you going to do when Senator Obama becomes YOUR president?
Those of intellect have been forced to live under the "leadership" of an idiot for eight years now, and are ready for a change. While McCain is not as dumb as Bush, he has been dumb enough to go along with all of his stupidity, including invading Iraq at the expense of countless American lives. And his running mate is even dumber than Bush, and McCain is about ready to, well, let's say he may not have eight more years left, and God forbid that crazy woman from Alaska ever be in the power seat.
One more thing, the only "arms" you need on Maui are hanging from your shoulders to paddle with. Lighten up and go surfing. It may help you get through this trauma you are experiencing.

Obama knows that his tactical bible -- Alinsky's Rules for Radicals -- is dedicated to the original community organizer, someone so successful that in this figure mythology and history merge. Alinsky was referring to "the first radical known to man who rebelled against the establishment and did it so effectively that he at least won his own kingdom -- Lucifer." "The organizer is in a true sense reaching for the highest level to which man can reach - to create, to be a ‘great creator,' to play God."[11]

Obama's insights for exploiting Christianity to advance the Marxist cause are a result of combining Alinsky's tactics with what he learned from Wright for two decades.

Most Americans generally know that the USSR was a bad place and that it was good that the Berlin Wall fell; they lived through that. But they know little beyond that, especially young Americans in college today, born around the time the wall fell -- Obama's biggest supporters. Nowhere in America is Barack Obama worshipped as he is on college campuses, by students and professors alike.

What does it all mean for November 2008? It means that millions of modern Americans, when they hear that Barack Obama has deep roots with communist radicals like Bill Ayers and Frank Marshall Davis, don't care; they don't get it. Moreover, the leftist establishment -- from academia to media to Hollywood -- will not help them get it. To the contrary, the left responds to these accusations by not only downplaying or dismissing them but by ridiculing or even vilifying them, given the left's reflexive anti-anti-communism. The left will create bad guys out of the anti-communists who are legitimately blowing the whistle on the real bad guys.

When the leftists of the ‘60s took over higher education and the media, they really knew what they were doing. This was brilliant, masterful, a tactical slam-dunk, a tremendous coup for them and their worldview, with ripple effects we can scarcely imagine.

#1 is good enough for me. Killing thousands of people, Americans included is just not right. It cannot be justified, I don't care how long McCain was in Vietnam. Lives come first. I cannot put anything else in front of that. And when it comes to money and taxes everything will be different when we stop sending it to Iraq.
What makes matters even worse is that Mad Woman from Alaska comes along with the deal. NO WAY; Obama won again last night, and in November he will win by the biggest margin in American history. In this country the majority rules; that's the way it works.
When we become a peaceful nation you won't need to bear arms. HOW STUPID is that anyway!!!???
