Walgreens Coming to Maui

Longs Beware!

Pacific Business News announced today that the Walgreen Co. plans to open their first store on Maui late next year.

The store will be 15,000 square feet, and will be built in Lahaina across from the Lahaina Cannery Mall. It will include a drive-through pharmacy, and they are expected to employ more than 40 people. With unemployment being as low as it is, this should be very interesting.

They announced earlier this year that they intend to open 30 stores in Hawaii and will position them as close to Longs as they can. This one will be right across the street.

The nation’s largest drugstore chain is set to make its Hawaii debut on November 1, when it opens its first Hawaii store on November 1 in the former Tower Records store on Ke’eamoku Street in Honolulu.

Go where you get the best service!

    BRING EM ON!!!

You can’t really call the service you get at Long’s “bad service”. It’s more like “no service”. I hope that Walgreens does a better job of at least seeing customers before they get to the cashier, but as big as they are I have my doubts.

Hey Hawaii Guy! It’s more like “self service”. I sincerely doubt that it will be any better at Walgreens. If it is, Longs needs to either call in Ron Martin or pack up and leave.

  6. Tammy Says:

Longs and Walgreens both need to call Ron.

I will say I have recieved decent service (not great, but decent considering the type of store it is) in my local Walgreens.

I am a University student originally from Lahaina. When I first heard from my mom that Walgreens is coming to Lahaina, I thought: “What?!” That is definitely a good surprise. I frequently go to Walgreens here in the city where I go to school (on the mainland) and its well-stocked, has pretty good service, and things are cheaper (or just as cheap) as Longs. Very interesting strategy to put up shop close to Longs!
