Macy’s is Missing the Boat
“Stars” Don’t Sell; People Sell
Today’s Honolulu Advertiser carried a story stating that Macy’s is “turning to star power this holiday season to fight disappointing sales and resistance to its takeover of local department stores.”
Having Stars like Donald Trump and Martha Stewart might bring some people into the stores, but unless their employees start talking to those people, they will just be there “Star Gazing”.
In Honolulu the new Nordstrom store will be presenting the biggest challenge that Macy’s has seen since gobbling up Liberty House in 2001. Shoppers had high hopes of something better, but that has not been the case. I repeatedly hear that they (Macy’s) have really made Liberty House look good. The residents of Hawaii would love to have its Liberty House back again.

I wonder when the last time was that Donald Trump OR Martha Stewart shopped at Macy’s. I think that the next time will be when my humpback grandmother straightens up!
Unfortunately we will never get Liberty House back in Hawaii, but you would think by now that the folks at Macy’s would have at least learned the meaning of the word “ALOHA”; but NOT! The customer service in there stinks like the Ala Wai Canal on a bad day.
