Ron, I bet many people would not think of Radio Shack as a place for great customer service however that has been my experience with them lately too. I was recently shopping for some external speakers to run an iPod off of. My experience parallels yours with a greeting upon entering and above and beyond service and information about the speakers. I had previously been to a few of the "big box" stores and received little to no service whatsoever.

Aloha, Bob
P.S. on the Skype service, I think you mean $3.00 per month not per day.

I have always had good experiences with Radio Shack also. I wonder if someone in Corporate has copies of Ron's books, and uses them. Their service has always been pleasantly suproises for such a big chain stores, and has been good at each store I have been in.

I went to Radio Shack recently to buy an Ipod. The young women who helped me tried to sell me a bunch of extra stuff I didn't want. After she took me to see it and I said "no thanks," she brought it all to the check out counter and set it down in front of me while I paid. She tried a few more times to add it on. I was a little annoyed, but I appreciated the effort. I was a customer who knew what I wanted, and didn't want anything else. Aside from that, I have always received excellent friendly service at Radio Shack. I have never once been attacked by a salesperson and I am always greeted. I enjoy shopping there, and will continue to.

I just sent an email to B & H because I am looking for a digital camera that allows me to blow up pictures to sizes larger than 8 X 10, and of course not be grainy. I hope they are as good as you say John. I agree with everything you say about Radio Shack. My brother worked there when he was a young man, then he became an electronics engineer in the Navy, and now runs a lab in Silicon Valley that lets him test and troubleshoot the electronic panels on jets and missiles. I tell my son to get a job there when he is old enough. Thanks for the referral.

It is so unusual to hear people praising the customer service found in local national brand stores, especially Ron Martin. I have been to a number of Ron's Success Rallies and listened to his hilarious tales about trying to get service at Comp USA. We saw what happened there; bye!
I have to wonder if Ron is already working with Radio Shack. As good as they are I'd bet that they could even be better with some of Ron's books on retail, classes and tools like the Morning Report. We couldn't get along without it here.
Keep up the good work Radio Shack

Radio shack's customer service is excellent, that is true. One thing to note however, they do tend to sell a lot of really low quality products with some exceptions. That shows me how important good service is and how hungry people are for it. The owner is a genius, that is for sure. Look at how successful the chain is. As for quality electronics- i recommend B & H Photo Video in new york. Most of their sales staff are very experienced, and their product line is all encompassing. They ship usps to hawaii for a very reasonable price, and they are the most successful higher end electronics establishment in the world. I have ordered many thousands of dollars in video and photo and computer gear since 1986 with 100% satisfaction. It does not generally take too long to talk to a human and get sound advice without pressure or hype. But you cant beat being able to drive to ala moana center and solve a problem on the spot when necessary. Some of radio shacks products are pretty good, just ask the salesman which options are of a higher quality and longer lasting. Also, thier extended warranties often times do make financial sense, not to mention the convenience of walking in with a broken whatever and walking out with a new whatever. Aloha, john rogers, a video solution
