go! Will Have to GO!
“Clearly, we’re disappointed with our results”.
-Jonathan Ornstein, CEO of go!
Hey Jonathon; what did you expect? It’s called KARMA! To get a fair deal you have to play the game fair. I am a big believer in competition, and while someone once said that all is fair in love and war, that’s not the case with business.
As USA TODAY reported recently, bankruptcy judge Robert J. Farison ordered the operator of “go!” to pay Hawaiian Airlines $80 million for using confidential information it obtained from Hawaiian’s bankruptcy proceedings. Things got worse when they destroyed the documental proof of these misdoings.
Add another $20 million and you have to wonder, “How much longer can go! continue before they have to go?”

It’s interesting, because like many others, I was excited when Go! first began service in Hawaii. I flew Go! a couple of times and enjoyed the flight and the service. But recently I haven’t thought of Go! at all when I travel. Now that their prices went up, and Aloha and Hawaiian’s went down, I don’t bother with Go! The few times I checked their site to compare prices, their fares were usually higher. Where did they Go! wrong? I think that there was too much hype and advertising in the beginning. Now they have just sort turned into “the other airline” instead of “the airline.”

Go came in to try and cripple everyone else. they and only they had the tax structure to come in and lose a lot of money getting established by writing off their loses against their fabulously successful mesa air group on the mainland. The bust with the confidential docs is like richard nixon spying on the democrats in watergate. It is called control freak syndrome, aka total domination syndrome. As much as i like inexpensive interisland travel, and as much as i like to see local people being able to actually go inter island, i dont like go trying to cripple the industry that is made up of hard working folks who have a lot of equity here in the airline industry. I cannot even count the amt of times people shouted me down when i voiced my carefully formed opinion on this subject. Everyone said “its so wonderful that poor people can travel with their families”, and “its great to fly for so cheap” etc. To that i said “at who’s expense???”

John Rogers says it well. The go! excitement at the Island Air terminal is history. I saw today that a judge is giving Hawaiian Air an added $3 Million bucks. How deep can this guys pockets be?
