Don’t Mess With Mother Nature

bird-fishing.jpgWhile doing my early morning trek around Ala Moana Beach Park this morning I saw two Japanese ladies throwing bread crumbs to the fish.
Suddenly a large bird swooped down and snapped up one of the fish that had come up for the bread; flew over to the grass and landed there holding the wiggling fish.
One of the women freaked out and started chasing the bird, throwing crumbs at it and screaming (in Japanese).
The bird flew off with the fish in its beak.
There must be a lesson in here somewhere; maybe it is the title of this post.

painting-on-beach-in-tahiti.jpgThere is a Japanese film crew in Tahiti filming Christian Lassen “at work”.
Christian sent me a number of photos.
In coming days I will post more of them to make everyone else as jealous as I am.

Christian R. Lassen in Tahiti

Sunday, June 10th, 2007

lassen-surfing-in-tahiti.jpgI sent e-mail to Chris Lassen today asking why I had not heard from him today.
Although he has been in Tahiti the past two weeks we have exchanged several e-mails every day.
I got an answer along with this photo saying, “Here’s a shot of me surfing today: This is why you haven’t heard from me.”
What a Life!

Ron and Satya Take Limo to the Airport

Sunday, June 10th, 2007

ron-and-satya-in-limo.JPGWhen Ron met Satya Tiwari at the Honolulu Design Center they hit it off right away.
Satya’s company (Surya Rugs Inc.) sells beautiful Indian rugs to INspiration and many other fine furniture stores that happen to be Morning Report clients.
Satya would like to see all of his companies 1,500 customers using the Morning Report, and Ron is more than willing to help in that endeavor. They talked about it in the Uraku limo all the way to the Honolulu airport.

Pedicure Follow Up

better-pedicure-68.jpgA few weeks ago I posted a story about my pedicure from Hell. Today I experienced the difference between a $23 pedicure and a $68 pedicure at Marcia Nadalin Salon in Kahala Mall.
If the $23 version was from “Hell”, this one was from Heaven. Marcia (and Jennifer) owes a debt of gratitude to the “side street butcher”, as I will be going to Jennifer from now on.
I continue to see evidence everywhere that you do “get what you pay for”.

peter-gives-davin-loaded-wine-card.JPGHonolulu Design Center owner Peter Skaaning awards Davin a “loaded wine card” from the Amuse Wine Bar for rising to the top spot on the Morning Report, and even coming in on his day off to maintain his consistent STAR STATUS!
Go Davin!!!

Attitude Is Everything!

Tuesday, June 5th, 2007

attitude.jpgThe letter “A” is number 1 in the alphabet, “T” number 20, and etcetera.
When you add them all up they total 100.
Success is 100% attitude.
Mahalo to Allan Silva at YTB Travel & Cruises for sharing this formula to the crowd at FAMES where I spoke this evening.

Share Your Problems Up – Share Your Successes Down

Sunday, June 3rd, 2007

complaint-dept.JPGI saw this sign on the door of a client’s office recently. While intended to be humorous, the message is good. Complaining gets you nowhere.
If you have a true problem, share it with someone who can help you with it.
Commiserating with fellow employees only makes the situation worse.
When you have a success, pass that around.

You Get What You Pay For

coffee.jpgIs anyone else old enough to remember those words from the long running Yuban Coffee commercial in the 50’s and 60’s?

The imagery of that ad came to my mind this morning as I read these words in the Honolulu Advertiser.

“An annual AAA survey ranks Hawai’i as the most expensive state for a vacation — estimating the cost of food and lodging for a family of four will average $650 per day.
Honolulu ranked as the highest-priced city, beating out New York and Miami Beach.
Hawai’i has topped the state list for at least eight years in a row.”

My comment is; “Lucky We Live Hawaii”
